Who are we?

2Geeks is made up of Jamie & Martin. Now in our 40’s we have known each other since university and have worked together for almost 2 decades.

With a combined total of 50 years experience designing and building websites and software, this makes us a formidable partnership.

Working with start-ups, charities, agencies and multi-national corporations we are confident in our abilities to complete development projects for almost any business type.

At least 50% cheaper than a full time employee

Need more convincing? Take a look at our logic below:

The average US salary for a full stack developer with 3-5 years experience is $149,957 per year.

This equates to at least $194,944 per year (including benefits and overheads).

The average employee will work 232 days per year (after holidays, federal days & sickness).

The most productive employee will work for 6 hours per day of an 8 hour working day (some studies show productivity down to under 3 hours per day!).

Full-Time Full Stack Developer (including overheads):

Productive hours per year: 1,392 hours
Effective hourly rate: Approximately $140.05
Annual cost: $194,944

2Geeks at $69/hour:

Productive hours per year: 1,392 hours (for direct comparison)
Hourly rate: $69
Total cost for equivalent productive hours: $96,048

But wait! There’s more…

The data above is based on an employee with 3-5 years experience. We have been doing this for almost 2 decades.

Also:

Flexibility: We can quickly adapt to changing project needs and schedules.

Specialized Expertise: Access to a wider range of skills and up-to-date knowledge than a single employee.

Efficiency: We focus on project deliverables without the distractions of office politics or unrelated tasks.

Scalability: Easily scale your usage up or down based on current project demands.

Innovation: We often bring fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to challenges.

Reduced Risk: Lower financial and legal obligations compared to full-time employees.

Frequently Asked Questions

More blurb below to help make our simple processes even simpler.

We do ask all our clients to pre-pay for at least 7.5 hours of our time per month.

If you do not use your hours then they can be rolled over for up to 6 months.

If you feel that you have too many hours banked then you can pause your agreement at any point.

Absolutely not.

You can cancel or pause your agreement at any time and no further pre-payments will be taken.

Whether you are an existing client or a paused/cancelled client, your hours can be rolled over for up to 6 months.

We use a very simple project management tool called FreedCamp. We set all our clients up with access so that they can raise and track requests there.

We are also available for a video call if you need to discuss the work first.

£56+vat / $69 (USD) per hour.

All time spent with clients is logged in 15 minute intervals ensuring you only pay for what you use.

You will have access to time logs which are updated at the end of each day.

Here you will see what time you have used and also what time you still have banked and when it expires.

Most the time it belongs to you.

Sometimes we are requested to use third-party libraries, plugins or software, where this is the case then licensing can vary. Where possible we will make you aware of this as projects progress.

More often than not urgent jobs can be tackled in a timely manor. But we appreciate that every now and then someone needs to jump the queue. In this rare scenario we offer a power-up service.

Presuming that capacity allows and we are given permission to push back an existing job. For an additional fee of £250 we can push your job to the front of queue. We genuinely prefer to not have to do this. But emergencies do happen!

We are both family men. We know what we need in order to maintain a our lifestyles and have no desire to be greedy.

We also like to be able to pick and choose our clients. By keeping our prices competitive we have found this opens us up to being able to find clients we enjoy working with.

This is dependent on the scale of the work. We set aside time daily for ad hoc amends and also time block for larger projects.

Most ad hoc changes / requests will be actioned within 24-48 working hours. Larger projects will need to be spec’d and scheduled according. Timelines will always be communicated.

Rarely.

If any third-party software, hosting or expertise is required to complete your project then we will agree these prices with you and will give you the option of paying these prices direct to the third-party to ensure that you are paying lowest possible price.

We predominantly use video calls. Google Meet is our go-to option.

If possible we try to avoid unnecessary meetings and prefer that your time and money are spent on core development work.

But we do understand sometimes meetings/briefings are required.

We both have families, so we very rarely work weekends.

We are based in the UK so work predominantly UK day time hours (9am-5pm). We often find this works well for our overseas clients as quite often they can send a request and it can be actioned before they are awake the following day should capacity allow.

Sometimes clients ask us to work on projects that are outside our core specialism. If we are unable to help then we are honest with clients and will often help to point you in the direction of where to seek additional help.

In over 2 decades of working together, we have never had to issue a refund. We hope this trend continues.

But, if you feel you have been misled or are unsatisfied in anyway then we are always available to try and find a resolution.

Unfortunately yes. But very rarely.

When we are forced to raise prices, we give clients as much notice as possible.

We don’t offer hosting direct. We use various third-parties for hosting solutions dependent on the project type.

Should you ever want us to arrange hosting then we will give you the option of paying the hosting provider directly to ensure you pay the lowest possible rates and maintain full ownership.

Oh yes. Send a client our way and get rolling 5% commission, paid monthly.

Of course. Capacity planning is very important to us.

We have developed various metrics based on paused accounts and banked hours which allows us to know when to onboard clients and when to close our books to new clients/projects.

Of course. If there is a large project then a full spec is required.

We have templates we can offer to give assistance, or we can create these ourselves.

Please note that time spent on project briefings and specifications are offset against your banked time or billable at the standard rate.

Unfortunately not.

Our rates are intentionally competitive and we feel extremely good value for projects of any size.
